DESCRIPTION: Field of the invention The invention relates to a cable box for electrically connecting electricity cables, comprising a housing provided with a bottom, an upright side wall which is present along the entire circumference of the bottom. and a cover with which the open top is closed, which side wall is provided with holes for the passage of electric cables, which holes are all present in the side wall at a distance from the bottom, the cable box further comprising an electrical connector comprising a connector block for electrically connecting electric cables, which connector block is provided with insertion openings into which non-insulated ends of electric cables can be inserted, wherein wire terminals are present in the insertion openings that clamp the uninsulated ends of the electric cables, which wire terminals are electrically make contact with the electric cables and which wire clamps are present in groups, the wire clamps present within a group are electrically connected to each other and the groups are electrically separated from each other, and the connector block leaves the holes present in the side wall. State of the art Such a junction box is known from US2006 / 169472A. The holes in the side walls are opposite the connector block present on the bottom, so that the connector block must be present at some distance from the side wall to allow room for the electrical cables.
Summary of the invention
An object of the invention is to provide a cable box of the type described in the preamble, wherein the electric cables can easily be inserted into the cable box and can be easily fixed in the connector block. To this end, the junction box according to the invention is characterized in that the connector block is present between the bottom of the housing and an imaginary plane parallel to the bottom and adjacent to the part of the boundary edge of the hole closest to the bottom present in the boundary closest to the bottom. the side wall. This ensures that the openings present in the side wall are left free by the connector block so that the connector block can extend to the side wall and the space in the junction box is optimally utilized. The electrical cables only need to be plugged into the correct plug-in openings without crossing each other so that it remains clear. Insertion can be carried out quickly and easily.
Preferably, pipe pieces are attached to the housing which connect to the holes and extend at an angle downwards (d, w, z, to the plane in which the bottom is located) and extend outwards, so that the cables protruding from the pipe pieces bent more easily and inserted into the insertion openings of the connector block.
Preferably, the connector block is fitted snugly between the side wall of the housing to prevent the connector block from sliding or twisting, thereby confusing the electrical cable.
A good solution to ensure that the electrical cables do not have to cross is to delay the groups of wire terminals in concentric circles, each group being in a separate circle.
An embodiment of the junction box according to the invention in which the electricity cable can be connected to the connector block quickly and easily is characterized in that the wire clamps are formed by resilient metal plates which are angled with respect to the axial direction of the insertion openings during clamping and connected to the connector block with one end and inserted into the insertion opening with the free other end and also act as a barb.
Brief description of the drawings The invention will be explained in more detail below with reference to an illustrative embodiment of the cable box according to the invention shown in the drawings.
Herein: Figure 1 shows a first embodiment of the junction box with the connector block in the housing; Figure 2 the in Figure | displayed junction box in exploded view; Figure 3 is a perspective view of the connector block of the junction box shown in Figure 1; Figure 4 is a top view of the connector block shown in Figure 3; Figure 5 is a side view of the junction box shown in Figure 1; and Figure 6 shows a second embodiment of the junction box in side view.
Detailed description of the drawings Figure 1 shows a first embodiment of the junction box according to the invention.
The cable box 1 has a housing 3 provided with a bottom 5, an upright side wall 7 along the entire circumference of the bottom and a cover 9 with which the open top is closed.
There are holes 11 in the side wall for the passage of electrical cables, which holes are all present in the side wall at a distance from the bottom.
The junction box is provided with an electrical connector which is formed by a connector block 13 for electrically connecting electrical cables to each other, which connector block is closely fitted between the side wall 7 of the housing.
The connector block is provided with insertion openings 15 into which uninsulated ends of electrical cables can be inserted.
Wire clamps (not shown in this figure) are provided in the insertion openings that can clamp the uninsulated ends of the electrical cables.
The wire clamps are divided into groups, wherein within each group the wire clamps are electrically in contact with each other and the groups of wire clamps are electrically separated from each other.
The connector block 13 is present between the bottom 5 of the housing 3 and an imaginary plane 17 parallel to the bottom and adjacent to the portion 19 of the boundary edge of the hole closest to the bottom in the side wall closest to the bottom, so that it connector block leaves the holes 11 present in side wall 7 free. For illustration, the cable box is shown in exploded view in figure 2.
In Figures 3 and 4, the connector block 13 is shown separately in perspective and top view, respectively. The groups 21 of wire clamps 23 are present in concentric circles, each group being in a separate circle.
The wire clamps 23 are formed by resilient, annular metal plates 25, with two plates protruding from the wall into each insertion opening 15. The distance between the metal plates is smaller than the diameter of the uninsulated end of the electricity cable to be clamped. When inserting the non-insulated end of an electrical cable, the metal plates are bent away and clamp this end. The plates are hereby angled relative to the axial direction of the insertion openings 15, the edge pressing against the electric cable being at a greater distance from the insertion opening than the edge connected to the connector block so that the plates form barbs which prevent that the power cable can easily become disconnected.
Figure 5 shows the junction box 1 in side view. On the housing 3 there are tube pieces 27 which connect to the holes 11 and extend outwards. These pipe pieces 27 are perpendicular to the side wall 7 of the housing.
In a second embodiment of the junction box 31 shown in figure 6, the pipe pieces 39 protruding from the holes 41 are not perpendicular to the side wall 37 of the housing 33 but extend obliquely downwards at an angle of 45 degrees, i.e. in a direction to a plane through the bottom 35. This makes it easier to bend the cables protruding from the pipe pieces and insert them into the insertion openings of the connector block 41.
Although the invention has been elucidated with reference to the drawings in the foregoing, it should be noted that the invention is by no means limited to the embodiment shown in the drawings. The invention also extends to all embodiments deviating from the embodiment shown in the drawings within the scope defined by the claims.
